I love raw cacao powder. What is cacao? Wait, did you say cocoa? Nope I said cacao!
Cacao is basically raw chocolate bean, without all the milk, sugar and other additives that make up processed chocolate. Raw cacao is packed with antioxidants that destroy free radicals in your body. These free radicals can accelerate the aging process and may even increase your risk for heart disease and certain cancers. That basically means cacao has good stuff that fights the bad stuff.
I’m not giving you the green light to overindulge and eat this every day. Remember: Everything in moderation. Let’s say it again: Everything in moderation. Ok, back to the cacao. If you are a chocolate lover, here is a healthier way to eat it, without all the processed junk.

Raw Coconut Fudge
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup cacao powder
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup 100% maple syrup
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut
Instructions
-
Mix all the ingredients together except 2 tablespoons coconut until well blended.
-
You can either roll into balls or place into a small baking pan and slice into squares.
-
Place reserved coconut and place in small bowl. Dip the balls or squares in there.
-
Eat immediately or store in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
If you don’t like coconut (like me) you can easily substitute pomegranates or a dried fruit if you’d like.

The snack navitas sounds like a great food on the go. I eat very frequently and so this would be perfect.
What can be substituted for the maple syrup. Here it’s as much as gold.
Hi Sandy! You can also use honey or another unrefined sugar of your choice. I hope that helps! Thank you! 🙂
I was looking for a raw and vegan fudge recipe, yours looks easy to make and looks delicious too! 🙂
I am so glad, thank you Donika!! I hope you like it 🙂
Hey Lauren,
Miss you since my Bar Method days. This fudge is right up my alley. I made it immediately and it is delicious.
Thanks for a great recipe!
Hi Maria! Thank you so much, I am so glad you liked it! Are you no longer at Bar Method?
I love this recipe! But was just curious – can it last for longer than 2 days in the fridge or should it be consumed within a certain time frame? Thanks!
Hi Robin! I have never had it last that long 😉 but I bet it would be good for up to 5 days in an air tight container in the refrigerator. I hope you like it!
