Mulled Wine that is deliciously light and so easy to make right in your slow cooker! Festive with warm, fragrant spices, this will be your favorite holiday cocktail!
It's the most wonderful time of the year.... right?
I am really trying to focus on gratitude and giving back rather than getting caught up in the hustle and bustle craziness of the season.
It's not easy and some days are easier than others, but I feel strongly about. There have been way too many years where I was so stressed with shopping and everything else that I wasn't allowed to enjoy it.
My kids are getting older and I am certainly not getting any younger...
I am sure many of you parents can relate to what I am saying.
Trying to be "present" during the holidays is not always easy when you have kids. You love their excitement and energy, but it truly is exhausting.
Sometimes it's just about enjoying the holidays with some healthy festive cocktails like this Spiked Apple Cider, Skinny Peppermint Eggnog and these Cranberry Mojitos.
My Cranberry Biscotti, Cranberry Cake with Orange Glaze and Red Velvet Cookie Cups would be even more yummy with this festive cocktail!
if you want some non-alcoholic drinks you will love this Eggnog Latte, Low Carb Bulletproof Hot Chocolate, Apple Chai Latte and definitely some Spiked Apple Cider.
Also, my cookbooks are both on sale now and would make a great gift! The Everything Wheat Free Diet Cookbook and The Greek Yogurt Cookbook are both the lowest prices I have seen!
Why You Should Make This Mulled Wine
The presentation for this is so gorgeous and these are perfect for your holiday gathering or party. I mean, who wouldn't want to sip on one of these beauties?
Even if you don't use the orange slices or cinnamon sticks (if you don't have them) simple use the leftover cranberries to serve to float in each glass.
The beauty of this is you just add all of the ingredients to the slow cooker, cook on low for 60 minutes and serve it warm.
Red wine should always be served at room temperature anyway, but this is slightly warm. And ridiculously cozy.
The cranberries are so pretty and festive too.
Recipe Ingredients
- Red wine - I used Cabernet Sauvignon which doesn't have too strong of a flavor which might overpower all of the spices.
- Coconut sugar or sugar free sweetener of your choice - Use whatever you'd like in this recipe. I like to use monk fruit to add a sugar free alternative.
- Ginger - Fresh ginger is best in this recipe and I like to Mae sure it's very finely chopped.
- Cranberry Pomegranate Juice - I like to use this juice because it is organic and contains no added sugar.
- Cranberries - Just plain old cranberries! They add a gorgeous little flair.
- Pomegranate seeds - I love these little seeds so much. They are highly sweet and so pretty.
- Star anise - This has a lovely almost licorice-like taste and a beautiful, fun presentation. Star anise is so pretty for fun holiday cocktails.
- Cinnamon sticks - To be honest, along with the star anise, I like to use these cinnamon sticks because they look so pretty. Yes, they are wonderfully spicy too.
How To Make This Mulled Wine
This couldn't possibly be any easier! Add all of the ingredients to a slow cooker and mix well. Cook for 60 minutes on low.
Place a fine mesh colander over a bowl or pitcher, making sure to drain out all of the add-ins.
Pour into a glass and top with garnish. Cheers!
Recipe FAQ's and Expert Tips
Absolutely! I would use an inexpensive Cabernet Sauvignon or light Merlot to not overpower all of these strong spices.
If you are lucky enough to have leftovers! I would simply reheat on a saucepan on the stove over low heat for a few minutes. Garnish as desired.
This will last for up to 3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Garnish right before serving.

Lauren, we too are really trying to focus on giving rather than being busy. It is harder than I thought!!! Every time I think I have it all taken care of, I realize another person I need to buy for or have to explain WHY we are NOT doing cards this year. I need to sip on this and remember why decided to focus on what truly matters 😉

Lauren, this looks fabulous and I really can't wait to try it. Pinning! ... I am going to add rosemary, though, because rosemary + wine is divine.
