'Tis the season for family, friends, cocktails, treats and lots of good cheer. I collected some of my favorite healthier cocktails from my food blogger friends, just in time for the holidays!
I hate to be a downer, but did you know that some of these pretty, fun cocktails can have HUNDREDS of calories in them? Couple that with ALLLLLL the cookies and treats we are eating these days and that's way too many calories.
I figured we could all use some healthier options for the holidays, right? It's all about moderation and balance (are you guys sick of hearing me say that???) and I would never tell you NOT to have the cocktail, so let's just lighten up the ones we love, ok?
And just so we're clear, balance + moderation = healthier holiday cocktails (and lots of water).
Let's not forget that these babies are only lightened up, so drink a couple and those calories add up too!
The holidays are the time to celebrate with friends and family and that means more treats, desserts and cocktails. We should be enjoying our time with loved ones and if that means eating or drinking a little more than usual, why not?
Just be smart.
So that's why I wanted to share some cocktails that have been lightened up. Less sugar means less hangover. Like I sad above, do not forget to drink lots of water.
I like to drink a glass or two of water in between each cocktail to make sure I am staying hydrated. Dehydration leads to the dreaded headaches and upset stomachs the next day so I will do anything to prevent that.
And that means lots of water. And maybe bacon and eggs.
Right?
Why do bacon and eggs taste so ridiculously delicious the day after celebrating? Add some avocado and I am in heaven.
The truth is the fat and amino acids in the eggs help to make you feel better. I don't know about scientific evidence but I definitely know that from experience.
Ok, I don't know about you but I am getting thirsty!
