Most of you know that I LOVE green tea! I love all types, fruity, mint, lemon decaf....you name it, I LOVE it.

Green tea is loaded with antioxidants and has shown to prevent certain cancers and even heart disease.   Studies show that green tea helps  fight obesity by lowering LDL ("bad") cholesterol as well as lowering blood pressure.   Isn't that reason enough to drink it?  It is for me!  Let's mix things up a little bit and put green tea in a smoothie, I mean, why not??

Let me just tell you that my kids all LOVED this smoothie!  My two year old drank most of it.

    Pin

    Green Tea Smoothie

    1 Frozen banana

    ½ cup frozen pineapple (unsweetened)

    1 teaspoon honey

    ½ avocado, peeled and pitted

2 cups kale (I keep mine in the freezer for my smoothies)

1 ½ cups strong brewed green tea (steep 2 tea bags in 1 ½ cups water for 3 minutes, let cool) *use decaf green tea if your kids are drinking it

    • Place in blender for 1-2 minutes and drink immediately.

*This is more like a juice than a thick smoothie.  If you would like it thicker, add plain greek yogurt (and also add 18 grams of protein!)

Love this recipe idea, Lauren. Think I'll give it a go using spinach instead of kale, as that's what I have in the fridge. Thank for sharing 🙂
