I know this may not make sense, but I like having a smoothie bowl better than a smoothie.  Weird?

    It might be.

Maybe it's because I love eating soup so much?  Or maybe it's because I love adding toppings to my ice cream and this feels similar?

No clue.  I just know I love smoothie bowls with lots of healthy toppings.

And let's be honest, the toppings are the best part. You can try to put toppings in a smoothie but you just might choke drinking it.

Ok, I highly doubt you will choke but you get what I am saying. There's no need to write me and tell me that won't choke from drinking a smoothie.

This smoothie bowl is packed with protein from not only the protein powder, but also from the chia and hemp seeds, which makes it a wonderful pre-workout or even post-workout meal.  I also added lots of healthy nuts and seeds to balance this out and to give it a little crunchy texture.

I love that added crunch. You can go ahead and top your smoothie bowl with nuts, seeds, granola, sugar free chocolate chips, unsweetened shredded coconut...the possibilities are endless.

You just might have to get a little creative, that's all.

Today is the day, hop on the smoothie bowl bandwagon!  I bet you love them as much as I do!

A smoothie bowl almost feels like you are eating a bowl of gazpacho, except it's sweet, if that makes any sense?

You can also experiment with fruits and see which ones you like best. I also have a recipe for my Blueberry Mango Smoothie Bowl which we all love.

It's all a personal preference and what you are craving that day. And let's be honest, it is also about whatever you have in your house at the time so you aren't running to the grocery store 5 times a week (like me!)

I know I mention protein powder in the list of ingredients which can be quite vague. Most people have their favorite protein powder that use religiously.

I thought I would share some of the ones that I recommend that aren't loaded with junk. Unfortunately many of the protein powders that they sell are filled with so many added preservatives, artificial sweetness and chemicals that I just don't want to consume.

I like Orgain Protein Powder which is organic, vegan, low carb gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, dairy free, no sugar added, soy free and non-GMO. It contains all quality ingredients that I recommend and it tastes delicious.

I also like Sunwarrior Protein Powder which is organic, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and contains electrolytes, healthy fatty acids and antioxidants as well.  I like the taste but being completely honest, I think the Orgain Protein Powder tastes better.

The above two protein powders are vegan and dairy free as well. Some people prefer whey protein over a plant based protein. This one is Grass Fed Whey Protein Isolate and is completely tasteless. It is low carb, sugar free, non-GMO and gluten free as well.

There are so many choices in the grocery store these days that it is always helpful to read the ingredient labels to check for all of that extra garbage.

I always tell my clients that you have to read your ingredients too, not just the nutrition information. Something can have the perfect amount of calories, fat and protein but also can be loaded with chemicals and junk.

    No thank you.

Haven't seen the smoothie bowl before but I like the idea of being able to eat it easier (and faster!)

When I first started seeing the smoothie bowl trend, I thought it was weird. But I had my very first smoothie bowl a few weeks ago and I totally get it now! I LOVE it! I must try your cherry lime smoothie bowl!

I'm a totally smoothie lover! When I was in college I use to have smoothies for breakfast and for lunch! I've not made any smoothie bowls though! I think I'd probably love them more since I could add toppings and such! (Love the idea of thinking about topping these "like ice cream" haha)

WOWEEE this looks so good. Cherries are probably my all time favorite fruit to transform in to smoothies or chia seed pudding. I'm putting this on my 'must make' list!
