Creamy, light and delicious, this Creamy Chocolate Protein Shake is a wonderful way to start the day!
Funny thing about protein shakes...they might be good for you, but they might also taste like chalk. Or have an aftertaste. Or both.
If you are like me, and are tired of boring, tasteless, gritty protein shakes, then this post is for you.
I feel as though I am a self-proclaimed-protein-shake connoisseur these days after years of searching for the perfect one.
Before you tell me that I should be getting all of my protein from my diet, relax. I always keep it real here and today is no different.
As a busy working mom of three very busy boys, I don't always have the time to have a perfectly balanced meal on the table. Add the fact that I don't eat red meat, pork or seafood and things just got a little more challenging.
Burt’s Bees™ plant-based protein shakes are not only more sustainable than animal protein, but they also provide a complete essential amino acid profile (offering the 9 essential amino acids that must be consumed through protein foods) which not all protein shakes offer.
So now you can see why I was super excited to try New Burt's BeesTM Protein Shakes. You might have read my last post when I tried the Burt's Bees™ +Healthy Radiance Protein Shake in Vanilla.
I was surprised to learn that my favorite beauty product company was now venturing into protein shakes! Not just your typical protein shakes, though.
These are made with non-GMO and 70% organic ingredients, made with no artificial sweeteners or flavors, soy-free, dairy-free and gluten-free. I like the sound of it. Now let's see what it looks like.
These are ingredients that I can feel good about gibing to my family.
I love pea protein (and the added antioxidant Vitamins A, C and E) but I wondered if it would it be gritty like some other brands? Or would it be thick and creamy like the Burt's BeesTM Vanilla Protein Shakes I tried last week?
By the way, that Vanilla Shake was ridiculously delicious.
But the truth? My preference will always be chocolate over vanilla when it comes to the shakes.
Ok, let's do this.
How about this time I add some almond milk? It's creamy, thick and loaded with vitamins and minerals.
Many of the other protein powders in the grocery store contain added sugars, artificial ingredients and sweeteners, preservatives and additives. Who wants all of that extra junk?
If I am drinking a protein shake then I want it to actually be heathy, is that too much to ask for these days?
You can always get a little creative when you prepare your protein shakes. I like to add berries, pineapple, mango to my vanilla protein shake and banana, strawberries and spinach to my chocolate protein shake. The possibilities are endless so get creative and please share your creations with me.
I love to hear about all of your ideas and additions, you guys always have such great ideas.
The final result? It was amazing. The flavor was wonderful and chocolatey and super creamy. I simply added 1 cup of almond milk, ice cubes and 1 scoop of Burt's BeesTM Chocolate Protein Shake to my blender, blended for less than a minute and VOILA!
My kids can even make their own protein shakes in our little Nutri Bullet ( I prefer that they don't use my Vitamix for fear that they might break it). The best part is that they like the taste so there are no complaints!

I had no idea they made protein powder! I love that it is all natural, because some of the ones out there scare me. I can't wait to try this!
