I recommend to drink this BEFORE all the green beers today 🙂
These pretty green drinks are perfect for Monday mornings to cleanse your body of all the (fun) toxins you ate and drank over the weekend. The beauty of juicing is that you can make it according to your likes and dislikes. This one is perfect for adding vitamins and minerals along with protein back into your body. Lemon is a natural detoxifier, but be warned, if you use too much it can be EXTREMELY sour (I know this from experience). I like to juice the peel of the lemon too, to gain even more vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Just be careful though, it is very pungent so I only use ¼ of the lemon. The greek yogurt adds protein, and the other fruits and veggies add fiber and of course, MORE VITAMINS! Lastly, chia seeds (yes think CHI-CHI-CHIA pets) are packed with omega 3 fatty acids (even more than flax seeds), fiber, vitamins and antioxidants. Chia seeds are truly a power food and a wonderful addition to anything.
DETOX GREEN SMOOTHIE
1 cup of 0% plain greek yogurt
1 organic apple, cored, skins on (I used granny smith to add even more GREEN color)
½ cup chopped pineapple
½ cup chopped mango
¼ lemon, take out the seeds, keep the peel (remember to use peel only if you don't mind a little sour taste)
1 inch of fresh ginger
5 kale leaves
1 tbsp chia seeds
I used my Vitamix but you can always use your juicer or blender too. I added the above ingredients into Vitamix in the order listed. Put the speed at Variable 1 and turn on. Quickly turn the variable to 10 and then to High and blend for 1-2 minutes. Pour into glass and enjoy!
And now the finished product...SO GREEN (and pretty!)

This is my kind of smoothie! I've also been drinking a lot of fresh juice recently and this would be a perfect flavor combo for the juicer.

Lauren, "Thank you" for posting the recipe. Just as you were posting, I was thinking of a detox regiment.
Enjoy your ten year anniversary getaway to Napa.
